Tom Kelly
Songwriter Hall of Fame inductee Tom Kelly is among the most successful songwriters of all time having co-written five #1 Billboard Hot 100 singles: “Like A Virgin” by Madonna, “True Colors” by Cyndi Lauper, “So Emotional” by Whitney Houston, “Eternal Flame” by The Bangles, and “Alone” by Heart. Tom and his lifelong collaborator Billy Steinberg began working together in 1981 and created some of the most memorable hits of the 80s and 90s.
Many of Kelly and Steinberg’s songs have become enduring classics and continue to receive attention from many of today’s top artists. They co-wrote for numerous artists, including Tina Turner, Roy Orbison, Pat Benatar, Belinda Carlisle, Bette Midler, Rod Stewart, Celine Dion, Carrie Underwood and The Divinyls (“I Touch Myself”). Tom began another high-profile collaboration with Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders for the group’s Last of the Independents album in 1994, which included the Top 10 hit, “I’ll Stand By You” and the single, “Night In My Veins.”
